When he was eight, his father asked a music teacher to teach him to play the piano.他八岁的时候,他父亲请了一位音乐老师教他弹钢琴。
when he was eight是一个时间状语从句,当主语与从句主语一致时,该时间状语从句可以与介词短语at the age of eight互换。如:
He could swim when he was seven. = He could swim at the age of seven.
本句包括两个动词不定式作宾补的结构:ask sb. to do sth让/要求某人做某事;teach sb. to do sth.教某人做某事。如:Our teacher asks me to teach him to swim.
It is great fun for him. 对他来说这是一大乐事。
fun意为“有趣的事/人;乐趣;玩笑;娱乐”,是不可数名词,前面既不加定冠词,也不用复数。如:It’s great fun to go swimming in summer.
          We had lots of fun (enjoyed ourselves) at the picnic.
感叹句:
1:adj 和n分开,用how
2:  adj 和n相连  A:n 后面有独立句子,用what(a/an)
               B:  n后面没有独立句子,用how。
