when he was eight是一个时间状语从句，当主语与从句主语一致时，该时间状语从句可以与介词短语at the age of eight互换。如：
He could swim when he was seven. = He could swim at the age of seven.
本句包括两个动词不定式作宾补的结构：ask sb. to do sth让/要求某人做某事；teach sb. to do sth.教某人做某事。如：Our teacher asks me to teach him to swim.
It is great fun for him. 对他来说这是一大乐事。
fun意为“有趣的事/人；乐趣；玩笑；娱乐”，是不可数名词，前面既不加定冠词，也不用复数。如：It’s great fun to go swimming in summer.
          We had lots of fun (enjoyed ourselves) at the picnic.
感叹句：
1：adj 和n分开，用how
2:  adj 和n相连  A：n 后面有独立句子，用what(a/an)
               B:  n后面没有独立句子，用how。
