Stella was born on September 13, 1971 in London, England. She was the daughter of Paul McCartney, a member of the world-famous band “the Beatles.” Though she was born famous, her parents wanted her to live a normal and independent life. She went to state school and earned pocket money on her own. She didn’t get the kind of allowance other kids of her age might have. When she wanted pocket money, she had to clean dishes at a restaurant near her home.
Though Stella had the look to become a model, she was most interested in becoming a fashion designer. At the age of twelve, she made her first jacket. Three years later, she started working on her first fashion design collection. When she attended college, some students called her “Daddy’s Girl.” But when her graduation fashion show came out, she made them shut up.

We moved to a beautiful two-storey old house. The house was built in 1905. It was repaired in 1997.
At first, really small things began to happen that didn't make me believe that anything was wrong, but as time went on, the things started becoming stranger and stranger. Early on, something would turn up missing, and later would be found somewhere else. I just thought I had forgotten where I put it, or perhaps my daughter was playing around with things. Then later on I would hear strange sounds when nobody was at home but me... yet it was an old home, and sometimes old homes did make little noises, so again, I don’t really mind.
Then things that I couldn’t explain started happening. It was last November and I was at home alone cleaning house. When I was sweeping the kitchen floor, I felt a very cold wind blew my hair. I thought the kitchen window must have been opened, but when I checked it, it was closed and locked. The windows were new, and there was no way any cold air came in.
We all felt very strange and moved away from there in October 2002. I was never really frightened. It was just strange, like something or someone was trying to reach out and get my attention or something.

Many Americans have been leaving their cars at home and riding to work on bicycles. Andy Clark is the leader of the League of American Bicyclists. His group supports bicycling for fun, fitness and transportation.
Clark says this is good news for the environment. He says riding a bicycle to work does not burn fossil fuel or creates dangerous pollution. Experts say the effects are the most important on short trips. Shorter car trips give out more pollution into the air for each kilometer drive. This is because the car engine will give out the harmful gas when it warms up before it can work well.
James, a member of Congress, is a strong supporter of bicycle use. He says cities, counties, state governments and state highway transportation agencies are planning the roadways of the future. They are creating roads and paths for bicycles in cities and between communities.
Last year, Portland, the Pacific Northwest city in the state of Oregon, had the highest percentage of bicycle users in the United States. Portland has been doing progressive city planning for many years to create special paths for bike riders.
