Teaching Aims:
Write about factual situations
Describe events or situations using multiple tenses
Complete tasks following a series of instructions
Express opinions, facts and common observations
Write recipes following models
Understand and use information provided in notes

Important Points & Difficult Points:
Read the new words correctly.
Know the words in Part A are uncountable nouns and use them correctly.

Teaching Aids:
Transparency, a tape recorder, picture cards.


Teaching Steps:
I. Greeting and everyday English.
II. Warm-up
What’s your favourite food?
What’s your favourite drink?
Ask the students to say out names of food/drink.
III. Part A
Use pictures to teach the names of some food.
Mime and teach the words ‘sweet, sour’.
Ask the students to read the words.
Ask the students to make sentences with the new words.
Invite some students to tell ‘I like…’
IV. Practice
Show Transparency and let the students say the new words.
Play the tape. Let the students listen and repeat the dialogue.
Ask the students to role-play the dialogue.


Homework:
Say the dialogue in Part A with their partners.
Write the dialogue once.

Writing:

Know how to be healthy.
Conjunctions: and, so, but, or.

Teaching Steps:
I. Greeting and everyday English.
II. Revision
Show pictures and let the students say out the words in English.
Ask the students how a certain food tastes.
Ask the students what kind of food they like.
III. Part B1
Tell the students I went to a party last week, saying, ‘I like vegetables so I brought vegetable soup.
Tell the students ‘brought’ is the past form of bring.
Explain the word ‘so’.
Ask the student to make sentences as what I say.
Make other sentences with ‘and, or’.
IV. Practice
Show Transparency and play the tape. Let the students listen and repeat.
Role-play the dialogue.
Ask the students to complete the dialogue with ‘or’, ‘and’, ‘but’ or ‘so’.
4.  Ask the students to read the completed dialogue.

Homework:
Read the dialogue in Part B1 with their partners.
Write the dialogue once.

Writing:
     I like vegetables so I brought vegetable soup.
           I brought sweet and sour pork.
           No, he doesn’t but he likes rice.
           I need some water or juice.

Teaching Aims:

Express opinions, facts and common observations
Write recipes following models
Understand and use information provided in notes

Important Points & Difficult Points:
Express the food one likes or dislikes.
2.  Use the words ‘or’, ‘and’, ‘but’ or ‘so’ correctly.

Teaching Aids:
Transparency, a tape recorder, picture cards.


Teaching Steps:
I. Greeting and everyday English.
II. Revision
Ask the students what food /drink they like. Review the food names and drink names.
Tell the students what I like and what I have for lunch every day.
Ask the students what they like and what they usually have for lunch.
III. Part B2
Ask the students to read the sentences the students say in Part B2.
Fill in the blanks with ‘or’, ‘and’, ‘but’ or ‘so’ according to words the students say.
Read the completed sentences.
IV. Part B3
Read the rubric to the students. Remind them to get familiar with the sentences in Part B3.
Play the tape. Ask the students to listen to it in order to fill in the blanks and circle the correct words in the recipe.


Homework:
Tell their friends what they like.
Write Part B2 once.

Writing:
  Mary likes spicy food but Helen doesn’t like spicy food.
  Ted likes spicy food and sweet drinks.
        Pam likes vegetables so she eats lots of leafy vegetables and carrots.
        Dan eats pork dumplings or noodles and soup at lunchtime.

Ask the students to tell the recipe of the beef stew.
Ask the students what their favourite food is.
Ask some students to read the dialogue in Part B1.

Ask the students if they like chocolate.
Ask the students to guess how chocolate is made.
Show Transparency and play the tape.
Let the students listen and repeat.
Practise reading the passage and answer some questions according to the passage.
IV. Part D
Ask the students to read the passage again.
Tell them to write T or F according to the passage they read.
Check the answers with them.

     Chocolate is popular.
     Chocolate is made from cocoa.
           Today, you can buy many different kinds of chocolate
but it tastes very different from the first chocolate drinks in South America.

Ask the students to retell the passage “Chocolate”.
Ask the students some questions according to the passage.
Have a dictation.
III. Part E
Write some words on the board with cl, gl, cr and gr.
Ask the students to compare their writing.
Ask the students to give some more words.
Teach the students how to pronounce the sounds.
Play the tape. Let the students to listen and repeat the sounds, words and rhyme.
Play the tape. Ask the students to listen to the words and write them under the correct symbols.
IV. Part F
Tell the students that Candy is preparing for International Food Day. Read through the notes with them.
Play the tape and ask the students to listen and tick the correct shopping list. Then check the answer with them.
Ask them to read the recipe. Ask them to finish the sentences in it according to the tape.
Tell the students to fill in the blanks according to what they hear on the tape. Show Transparency and check the answer with the students.

Say some words with cl, gl, cr and gr. Ask the students to tell the sounds they hear.
Ask the students to say some more words with those sounds.
III. Part G
Play the tape for the students to listen and chant.
Encourage the students to join in with the words.
Ask the students to write their own verses by substituting the food items they like.
IV. Part H
Ask the students if they have eaten hot dogs, hamburgers and pizzas.
Ask them to tell the recipe for those foods.
Ask them to tell the answer for the questions.
V. Part J
1. Ask the students to do the exercise themselves.
2. Check the answers with them.

Say the chant to their friends.
Write the recipe for a pizza.

Writing:
It’s lunch time. Let’s make a hamburger.

Ask some questions according to the passage.
Tell the students to read the sentences below the passage and write T for true and F for false according to what they have read.

P. 51 Ask the students to look at the table. Tell them to read the notes and them write the sentences.
P. 52 Ask the students to look at the pictures and read the notes. Ask them to write the recipe and Bob’s thoughts using the notes.
P.53 Ask the students to listen and read, then number the pictures and write the recipe.
P. 54 Ask the students to read the text about cows. Then tell them to write T or F for each sentence. 
Make comments on the exercise.

Go over Unit 7.
Prepare for Unit 8.

In this unit the students learn to write about factual situations; describe events or situations using multiple tenses; complete tasks following a series of instructions; express opinions, facts and common observations; write recipes following models. The students are very interested in learning about them. However, it is not easy to learning them well. It’s difficult for the students to learn them well and it’s also difficult for the teachers to teach them well.
