Teaching Content: Section C&D
Teaching aims:
Knowledge and ability aims:
1).listen to, speak, read, and write following words:
Ask, become, from to, fix, equipment, train, fire truck.
2). Get the main structure of the dialogue, also the important details. (Clearly retell the main content of section C)
3) Master the basic reading skills: skimming, scanning, etc.
Moral aim: have Ss develop the awareness to contribute to society.
Important and difficult points:
Get the main structure and key details of the dialogue, the elementary reading skills.
Teaching approaches:
Audio-lingual approach, communicative teaching, Task-based teaching.
Teaching tools: multi-media, web.
Teaching procedures:
Step I. Warming-up:
1. Ask questions: How are you today? What’s your father’s (mother’s) job?
2. Tell Ss to listen to one listening material:
Find out the words about jobs- tailor, doctor, farmer, babysitter, language teacher, plumber, dentist, fireman.
3. A picture about fireman, ask questions: where does he work?
What do you think of the fireman?
Step II. Presentation:
1. Introduce a fireman: Mr. Yang is coming to our school. If you can ask him some questions, what will you ask?
2. Have Ss speak out their ideas. (T to Ss)
3. List the questions
Step III. Practice:
Play the tape of section C, ask a question: what do you learn from the dialogue. ( mainly say the key words and sentences)
Make some Ss answer them.
have Ss open their book to Page fourteen, read the dialogue after the tape, repeat it twice.
do the exercise in Page fifteen( section D)
Check the answers: have some Ss read out their answers while making explanations for false sentences.
Step IV. Consolidation:
read the passage again, have Ss work in groups to act out the dialogue
(One question: how many characters are there in this dialogue?)
Make role assignment.
