Module 1 教学设计
     How long is the Great Wall  
 
Teaching task:
   1, Revise some words of buildings and places, and let the students to say them well.
   2, Learn the sentence patterns of describing the Great Wall, and enable the pupils to talk about other places well.
   3, Enable the pupils to know more knowledge about some famous places in China.
Difficult points:
   1, Words: thousand, museum, hundred, kilometer
   2, Sentence pattern: How long is …?    How old is …?
   3, Improving listening skills and oral English through the whole class.
Teaching tools: 
   Powerpoint 课件, word cards, multi-media, some pictures of the text.
Teaching steps: 
   Warm up: 
 first, revise some big numbers with students to help them with the dialogue in the story. Explain that students have to find the number in the “ what do you hear?” and then say the corresponding number in the “ what do you say?” colum.
              Then, repeat the activity with the class several times.
New lessons:    
1,T:”Now, please think about some famous places and buildings in China.”
   Ss: think and say
   T: (Use the word cards to show some phrases to help them.)
Example: Tian’an men square  the Summer Palace   Forbidden palace   The West Lake
2,T: “Today, we will see the Great Wall. Who can tell me about the Great Wall?”
     S:  It is in…     It is very …  There is/are …
     T: ask several students to do it . Let the pupils to talk about it by themselves.
3,  T: “Now, you will listen to the text for 2 times. The first time, underline all the sentences with “?”; the second time, answer some questions.
  1, How long is the Great Wall?
  2, How old is the moon?
  3, Can Simon and Daming walk all of the Great Wall?
        (the teacher use multi-media to show the pictures of the text and then encourage the pupils to answer the questions and praise them .)
4, This time, Reading Practice:
??????????  1,  All the girls act as Simon; all the boys act as Daming.
??????????  2,  One student, one sentence.
5, Phrases:

Present their work to the class by reading and working with their partner. Let pupils know how to introduce some famous places to the foreigners..
   T: ask several students to be a guide,( and give him or her a guide card) and let them introduce a place to other students.
 Homework:
?????????? Write some famous places in China. And do part 1 and part 3 on Student’s book.
