How long is the Great Wall 教学设计
模块主题：There is only one activity in this part. “Listen , point and find ‘How long is …?’ ”This dialogue is about the Great Wall. The Ss have known the sentence pattern “How old is…”.
教学目标：
Be able to listen , repeat and understand the dialogue.
Be able to listen , say , read and write these words: “
thousand, more, the Great Wall” through talking about the Great Wall.
▲Be able to understand and use these base sentences :
How long is the Great Wall? It’s ten thousand li long. How old is the Gteat Wall? It’s more than two thousand years old
※ Be able to talk about the experiences through talking about the other things..
教学过程：
1. Warm up:
Explain the rules about learning English of this term.
2. Review:
Review the base sentences that they have learned and concern with the new knowledge:
1) Show some pictures , “Stonehenge, Big Ben, London Eye”
Have the Ss answer these questions:
A. Where is it?
How old is …
3. Presentation:
1) Let’s look at this picture, where is it? Yes, it’s the Great Wall. What do you know about the Great Wall?
2) Today we will learn M1 U1, there is a new friend in this dialog. Look at this picture, this is Simon. (read the name together) let’s watch the video, pay attention, “What are they talking about?” (Present the question on the screen) have the Ss watch the video and answer the question.
They are talking about the Great Wall.
3) Let’s watch the first part, pay attention, “Who wants to go to the Great Wall? Whose home is near to the Great Wall?”(Pay attention to ‘who, whose’) (Present the questions on the screen) have the Ss watch the video and answer the questions.
Simon wants to go to the Great Wall.
Daming’s home is near to the Great Wall.
4) Now let’s watch the first part again. Pay attention, “ Can we walk all of the Great Wall? Why” (Present the questions on the screen) have the Ss watch the video and answer the questions.
No, we can’t. Because it’s too long.
5) Now let’s watch next part. Pay attention to these two questions. “ How long is the Great Wall? How old is it?” ( show the questions on the screen) have the Ss watch the video and answer the questions.
It’s ten thousand li long. \ It’s five thousand kilometers.
It is more than two thousand years old.
6) The Great Wall is two thousand years old. Then how old is the moon? (Have the Ss guess and then watch the second part again.)
It's millions of years old.
4. Practise:
1) Listen and point.
2) Listen , point and find “How long is…?”.
3) Listen , point and repeat.
4) Read the dialog in roles.
